Dr. Pope has been in veterinary medicine for over 20 years, practicing in both the large and small animal sectors. Her broad career experience has provided her a unique understanding of the stresses involved with maintaining a career in this industry. She now dedicates her time to providing wellbeing support for the profession in developing the 1 Life Connected movement and shares this message through 1 on 1 coaching, customized team events, author to “The Unspoken Life”, and as a dynamic international speaker. In the end, Dr. Pope truly believes that we are all 1 Life Connected. Dr. Pope lives in Maryland where she enjoys spending time outside exploring with her husband Jeff. They share their home with multiple furry and feathered friends including Dempsey (French Bulldog), Graciebird and Rainier (both tuxedo DSH cats), and Maui (Greater Sulphur Cockatoo) often showcased in the 1 Life Connected movement. In addition, she is active as an athlete and has completed 10 Tough Mudders and was working towards running a 1/2 marathon in every state prior to COVID 19 entering the stage.
Dr. Sarah Sweet is a 2004 graduate of the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Sarah worked in the financial industry in Boston and New York for 12 years before pursuing her dream of veterinary medicine. Following graduation, she practiced small animal general and emergency medicine for 11 years in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine, where she co-founded a companion animal practice on the beautiful coast of Maine. Sarah joined IDEXX Laboratories as Medical Affairs Specialist in March 2018. Prior to joining IDEXX, she was the Senior Professional Services Veterinarian for Merck Animal Health in the Northeastern US. She is a past president of the Maine VMA and was named Maine’s Emerging Leader in 2011. Sarah and her husband Jeff live on the beautiful mid-coast of Maine with their two yellow labs, Wendy and Wallace, the two best cats in the world, Peggy Sue and Bruce Lee, and Sarah’s thoroughbred gelding Mr. Baker.

A love of animals and people is what drives Dr. Lindsay M. Avila’s career. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree at Miami University, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Neuroscience in 2002. In 2007, she obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Avila has extensive experience in private small animal clinical practice at multiple hospitals, particularly interested in internal medicine, dentistry, and geriatric care. Dr. Avila enjoys living in Ann Arbor, Michigan, with her husband, her father-in-law, three daughters, three cats, and a dachshund. She has a particular passion for dachshunds and senior cats. When she’s not working, Dr. Avila spends time doing dental procedures at a local humane society and wellness care/ surgery at a local canine control center. She also enjoys home remodeling/decorating, taking care of her 50+ houseplants, weight-lifting, travelling, and spending as much time as possible outdoors.
