Professional Bio

Dr. Tari Kern earned her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation, she completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery. After several years working in general medicine and feline exclusive practice, she pursued rehabilitation therapy training through the University of Tennessee program, becoming a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner. The belief that that veterinary patients would benefit from an integrative approach to healing through blending both traditional medicine and holistic care options lead to opening Pawsitive Steps Rehabilitation & Sports Medicine in Rochester Hills, Michigan.

Her commitment to provide innovative pain management and neuromodulation options for her patients led to more education and travel over the years. Dr. Kern obtained certification in veterinary medical acupuncture certification through Medical Acupuncture for Veterinarians, now Curacore, in Colorado. She pursued training in myofascial trigger point therapy through MyoPain Seminars in Texas to help address difficult to manage muscle pain in her patients. She gained additional training in canine sports medicine, veterinary orthotic and prosthetic care, and musculoskeletal ultrasound through Canine Rehabilitation Institute in Missouri. Dr. Kern achieved certification in veterinary spinal manipulative therapy through the Healing Oasis Wellness Center in Wisconsin.

Her passion to provide the best clinical options for her patients has driven her ongoing commitment to learning. She has completed residency training through the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. Most recently, Dr. Kern has been involved in studying traditional Chinese herbal medicine and refining her musculoskeletal ultrasound skills.
