Did you attend MVMA's equine ophthalmology wet lab?
MVMA hosted a wet lab focused on equine ophthalmology on February 22 that included a morning of lectures followed by a full afternoon of hands-on procedures featuring both cadavers and live horses. Stephanie C. Bell, DVM, Diplomate ACVO educated attendees on how to best perform procedures like lid blocks, applying corneal anesthetic, SPL placement, blocks and repair, retrobulbar blocks for enucleation and addressing a variety of eyelid lacerations. Attendees were also able to practice ultrasound techniques to further their practice. Through a partnership with Horses Haven, located in Howell, MI, attendees had the chance to work with and help treat the rescue animals onsite.
MVMA would like to thank the generous partners that made this event possible: Boehringer Ingelheim, Esaote, Midwest Veterinary Supply, and Zoetis.
