THE EARNED SICK TIME ACT IS COMING - IS YOUR PRACTICE PREPARED?

The Earned Sick Time Act (ESTA) is a Michigan law going into effect on February 21st that will mandate employers of all sizes provide all employees (regardless of status) with paid sick time based on hours worked. ESTA time can be used for a variety of purposes include the employee’s own health-related reasons, a family member’s health-related reason, and to care for someone who is like family to the employee. Documentation requirements are limited and the risks associated with non-compliance are unprecedented. HIGHLY PATHOGENIC AVIAN INFLUENZA DETECTED IN WAYNE CO. FLOCK

Following an investigation by MDARD, the MSU Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory has detected the presence of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in a backyard flock from Wayne County. This is the first case of HPAI in Wayne County since the virus was first detected in Michigan in 2022.

UPDATED STATE REPORTING REQUIREMENTS FOR CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE THEFT AND LOSS

The Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA or “Department”) notified all licensed dispensers of controlled substances of changes to Rule R 338.3141 regarding the reporting of theft and diversion of controlled substances. These updates, which are now in effect, modify the timeline and procedure for reporting such incidents to the Department.
